How to delete previous windows folder (Windows.old)

 

 

 Do you want to delete Windows,old folder? if yes, then this blog will be very helpful for you.

When we update or re-install our Windows Operating system, then it creates a new system folder with name windows and previous system folder will be  renamed to "windows.old".

Why windows.old ?Do we need it?

 Yes, if you want to revert back to previous version of  windows OS then this windows.old folder is  very useful.

but if you do not want to revert back to previous version and you want to to delete this folder and free up space in your system drive.

How to delete windows.old folder ?

There are two simple ways to delete this windows.old folder from PC lets discuss them one by one:

• By Using system files clean-up

First right click on the system drive (  C drive ) and open properties.

 Now click on system files clean up

Now select the following files from the list and then click on "Clean up system files"

Now wait and let the loading get complete

Now select the previous windows installation and other files which you want to delete

 

Click on ok. Now the previous windows.old folder will be deleted.

 

• By using storage sense (Only for windows 10 1809 or later 

 Type storage in search box of windows 10 and then open storage  setting

 Go to storage and open system or temporary files and delete The previous files 

 

Warning -: YOU CAN NOT GO BACK TO PREVIOUS VERSION IF YOU DELETED WINDOWS.OLD
